the deep tub set from detroit speed you get everything you need to tub it for 1320 dollars you can get a 17 inch rim 11 inch wide with a 315mm tire under there but you have to cut down the the rear axels.if you dont you still can get 295 mm tires. very nice setup for the money

so those are 315's. i seen the pic's on your site man you do pretty good work i only wish i could do that for a living. is those leaf springs in stock location in those pic's. and one more question for now lol! is that car siting at stock heigh because i am getting the kit from detroit speed that has the tups and leaf springs that are moved in and was going to get the kit that lowers the car 3 inches.

craig,
I don't have my notes with me but I recall 55 1/2" with rotor thickness and the rim back space is 5.5". I have 1" inner clearance and 5/8" outer. I can drop it all the way down with no rubbing.

Im using a stock tank and Landrum leaf springs which are not as wide as a stock ones.

thanks and once again sorry for all the questions but your car you are building is what route i planed on going so you already have done what i am about read to do so how exactly would i measure to see what the rearend length would be and the backspacing would be i figured that the rim backspacing would be 5.5 :poke: :help!:

MrQuick

cool, if you need any help just ask.

Honestly, Buy the rims and tires, make a hole for them to fill, then set up your rear end to fit. Much cheaper to do this way on some projects.

yeah i just ordered the mini tub kit from detroit speed they say a 17x11 inch wheel will fit with a 315 tire. so when i get the mini tubs in then order the wheels? i figured i would buy those 17x11 with 5.5 backspacing.

Do you think a 335 is possible with a mini-tub? On 17's? yes ...on 18's yes, but with a bit more frame work and link suspension. No way with leafs.well....I wouldn't say no way but you get what im saying.

Mr. Quick. What all did you do as far as your suspension on the 69? I love the stance and would like to make my 74 to sit similar. I also like your wheel choice. That's about the same size wheel and tire that I want to use.

The front rims were narrowed to 8" wide the rears are stock 9".

sorry i was trying to say that when i shorten my rearend do i need to keep the axles out of them for anything. on your ragtop nova what is your front wheel size and backspacing and tire size you are going with and what have you done to the front suspension.drop spindles cut loops out of spring and etc.

MrQuick
07-25-2008, 07:25 PM
oh ok. Now when you do your rearend you need to buy new axles. Just check with the shop that is going to do the work. where are you?

Front is a 275 on a 17x9.5 6" backspace rim. I doubt you will get the same results since my frame, fenders and wells have been modified to fit it all. On a stock frame 245 45 17's on a 17x8 4 3/4" -5" backspace rim should do better. You will have to measure your car to be sure.

I appreciate the info Mr. Quick. I'm working on the floor pans on mine now but will soon be on to the quarters, tubs, and rear suspension plans. Very helpful pics on your site. I'm thinking of trying to make my own tubs though, just splitting the stock one and adding a strip down the middle. This would make it a lot cheaper.

What's the specs (part number) on the Landrum springs you used?

What was need to make them work on the Nova?

Thinking seriously about going this direction.

Thanks!
