I've made fun of GM for making excuses before.
Clearly it's time to do a little bagging on Nissan, as that car got straight owned. Repeatedly.
It will be interesting to see more head to head tests between these two cars. (It also makes me wonder why GM/Chrysler refused to supply a Viper and a Vette for a recent comparison test against the GTR.)
If the Z06 can beat the GTR that easily, I can only imagine what the ZR1 would do.
maybe this will silence those people who still think 0-60mph is a good comparison. I doubt it though.

and they even have the nerve to compare that pile against the zr1 paleeeeeeese
Isn't the GTR like 3800lbs w/o driver? I think it's a bit piggly, even though it makes real good power.

yeah, I for one am a die gard chevy guy, but I know how easy it will be to make that GTR run like a raped ape. Just exhaust and a chip/reflash, and it'll be all over, for not much money!

yea protouring it might respond well to a lil tweaking .you are forgetting one major thing .the ls responds better than any motor to the same mods game over

From what I hear the trans can't handle much more than 600hp. Heres some interesting info about the launch control from a guy that just got certified to work on the GTR.
The car is not equipped with a "Launch" feature as no where in the owners manual or service manual does it mention such a thing. When asking the instructor we were told they are not permitted to talk about it. Here's the deal on that. There is NO documentaion that nissan has published about this feature because after doing it only a hand full of times you WILL lunch the tranny rather then launch the car. These guys in the mags discovered the ability to do this and started plastering it all over in their articals. It is not an intended use for the vehcile and will abuse it so obviously if the flight data results show you were in that mode when the trans failed it will not be warranty.
Something else to be said regarding the flight data recorder. They will not tell us where it is and there will be no wiring or location information in the service manual. It used special equipment to download the info. It can not be erased as it is permanantly burned into the unit. We can retrive the info with the special equipment but it will be in engineering jargun so we will just be sending it to them for evaluation.

Supposedly, your warranty is void if you turn off the VDC.
You need to turn off the VDC to get the car in launch mode.

I believe if you just had a reflash in the GTR, that thing would eat a Z06. A twin turbo V6, I'm sure that Nissan left alot on the table. We'll just have to see what happens in the next couple of months as these cars become more available and people mod them.
On a side note, i could have sworn that i read in Road and Track, or C&D, that the GTR was quicker around Nurburgring? Does anyone remember that?
I cant wait for the ZR1, that should be one badass car!

Road & Track had the story on the cover of their magazine a couple of months ago about how when they tested the two, the GT-R bested the Z06 handily. Any given day, any given driver.

Also beat the F430 Scuderia, 911 turbo, etc etc. It's road course time is 1/10th slower than an Enzo. I don't think the ZR1 has much of a chance against that car if everything is true. I can't figure out how or why it's so fast, but it appears to be legit.

RINGER. That is why the GT-R's numbers are all over the place. Not very consistent.

The ZR1 went around the ring almost 4 seconds quicker than the GTR driven by a GM engineer. The GTR isn't much competition to the ZR1. In this vid the GTR loses pretty bad just imagine when the ZR1 comes out it will put cruise liner lengths on it.

With that said, the GTR has more bang for the buck.
I'm not biased toward either car. I wouldn't mind having either car in my garage. Besides, I'm a Viper nut

I was responding to "I don't think the ZR1 has much of a chance". The Z06 and GTR is the better comparison, if Nissan isn't throwing ringers out to the media and it performs like they say it does then stock for stock the GTR is the best bang for the buck.

The ZR1 has shown to make its way round the 'Ring significantly faster than the GTR, while the Z06 trails significantly
