Looking for a good car as a starting point and found this one. Any feedback? or thoughts/opinions on the car?

Very clean car. For me, a little too much so. I'd rather start with something a little more run down so I can build it up my way from the get-go

Loks kind of 3/4 of the way there. If you like the looks & the paint/body is good, that is a lot of saved $$ and time.
This pic bothers me.

with that cross bar no one shoud be in that back seat. Maybe the cross bar comes out.

I saw it in person. It's an awesome car. Pictures do not do that car justice. Good car to start with? It's done...unless you want to install mini-tubs and shange a few things to make it yours.

The owner didn't plan on using the back seat of the car.

is it worth $20,000 in your opinion?

there is a bar going across the back of the front seats, it makes it dangerous for the people in the back seat. In the event of a hard stop or a crash the people in the back have a good chance of hitting their head on the bar causing serious injuries or death.

the bar is not low at all...its at shoulder height for the front two people...the people in the back WILL hit their head if they go forward...

apparently not in the opinion of the owner...its past 24k and its not reached the reserve yet... I personally wouldn't get it since most of the work is already done, if you are looking for a car to drive I would say go for it! there are plenty of things you could do it if you wanted to, eventually, it would be a great driving project!

Id want to do mini-tubs with 17x11 Fikse FM5's.
Turbo down the road maybe. Right now I just want something to drive and enjoy on the weekends.

With the high door bars it would be real hard for anyone to even get in the back seat anyway. Looks like a good car but I am not fond of the black chrome wheels.

if you watch the video of the current owner driving it on that road course, what items do you think the car needs to handle/perform better on the course?

I personally hate them. First thing id change out is the wheels to Fikse FM5's.

The first thing I want to do is be able to fit 335's under the rear. Where can I get a mini-tub kit? Which would you recommend? What all will I need to fit those? Best place to get Fikse wheels? Would you go 17" in the back or 18"? How wide would you go? Id like to put 295s up front, 17" Fikse FM5s, but unsure what it takes to fit those 295's up front. Currently it has 275's.

Ok, I figure 18x11 Fikse FM5's on the rear with 335/30ZR18
18x10 Fikse FM5's on the front with 295/35ZR18
How does that sound? About right? Anyone know what bolt pattern I need?

or would you go with this tire/wheel size?
Rear
11”x17” rims with 6.5” offset 335 35 17 tires
Front
9.5”x17” rims with 4.5” offset 285 35 17 tires

Go with the DSE Deep tub kit...just google it an youll find it...i would personally go with 18x 12's in the back but thats me liking a little wider tire...I may be wrong but it is going to be tough to fit 295's up front on a stock subframe without some significant work, 275s were the larges i thought you could go without rubbing...but this is just my thinking...also if you are looking for a fiske dealer, Tony, (NineBall) is a dealer and he is located here in Houston...make a nice road trip down and you could probably have them ready for you to stick on and drive back up...nice road trip too!

Tony, what is up with the EFI on that car? I see injectors on the manifold but no wiring?
This is a nice car for sure and it surprised me that it didn't bid higher than it did.
As for the back seat being unsafe to ride in? it looks as safe as a ride at Six Flags to me. Getting in and out pretty much restricts the non enthusiastic and non agile riders from going for a ride which pretty much elimates the people who wouldn't use the harness and hang on .
You can argue saftey all day long when it comes to this stuff. When you have to wear a saftey harness in a manlift the lanyard won,t even begin to work when you start to hit the floor because the ceiling won't let you go high enough. You will hit the floor with something wrapped around you that makes you land into the lift and the floor at some really bad angles if you get tangled up. It is a trip hazard and has caused more of us to almost get hurt from that alone more than falling out. When you get above 20 ft you just start to get some use out of the lanyards design to break your fall.
The botton line on saftey with that setup in that Camaro is that you just have to use it and you will be safer than a regular ride in any car or ride at an amusement park. The original lapbelts have been replaced and shoulder harnesses have been proven to work.

While this has all been covered in other threads, here are my thoughts.
Use at least 3 pt belts
Don't use harnesses without a rollbar...in a rollover your head will get crushed.
Don't use a rollbar with 3pt belts, your head can hit the bar.
The backseat is a sticky subject, but my opinion is that if there are harnesses back there making sure your head doesn't hit a bar, it is OK

The Camaro sold. A friend bought it. The body is flawless. The car was originally setup with a supercharger with a blow-through carb. The charger was too loud for the owner. The plan was to eventually convert the car to fuel injection and a different charger or maybe a turbo. This car was well thought out and executed. It doesn't need mini-tubs to be an awesome car. It's done! You'd spend 3 times what the original owner was asking if you built the car from scratch. The new owner knows that kind of pain. He wanted a done car. He couldn't go wrong.
The only thing planned for the car right now is air conditioning...since we plan to do the Power Tour next year.
