Now that I have my new Rushforths, I was looking at the available wheel lock lug nuts to protect them.

Who do you think makes the best system for theft protection and durability? McGard, Custom Wheel, Gorrilla or some other brand?

I'm interested in this answer also, so get my name on the link and give it a bump.
Being custom ordered rims, does that keep the theft down, cause they would only fit select cars? What about the extra weight of the locking nut, is this undesirable?

I haven't found a set of wheel locks yet that I can't take get off without about an extra minute of time. They keep the honest person from taking them your wheels but none of them are a guaranteed theft device.

get 5 diffrent sets of locks..

interchange them on EVERY bolt.. and that will piss off anyone

including yourself!

but it should do the trick.

I agree with Boesch. I have lost the keys plenty of times and I just get a good quality socket and hammer it onto the head of the lug a bit, then I just torque it off. Never fails.

Yup. I worked at a tire shop and you won't beleive how many people lost their lock key.

Actually, the mid 80's Buick's had locking hubcaps that were pretty hard to get off. I don't think you want hubcaps...LOL.

ive done that alot at the junkyard when I've needed to. Back in the 80's when OE's started with locks thieves then resorted to stealing the whole car - so whats worse? :hmm:

After doing a search over the internet and reading a lot on the subject, I'm beginning to realize that wheel locks wont stop a determined professional thief, but will probably deter an amateur one. Still sitting on the fence as to whether it's worth the potential hassle if you lose the key.

Okay... which ordinary lug nuts have you found to have the best quality in regards to ruggedness and appearance?

Thanks!
