LSx cam sync, How does it work?

Or maybe I should say, where does the sync signal get picked up from. I've seen pictures of the cam sync sensor at the back of the intake. Is there a wheel on the cam giving the signal? Is it part of the cam? Or is it something else?

Anyone have pictures that would help?

It's on the end of the cam just before the last main journal. Why do you want to know?

Ok, so the cam blank would have it built into it. There goes that idea. The reason I asked is I'm building a R07 with EFI and COP.

Yes, the blanks are different. The Gen 3/4 is very similar but one of the differences is where the cam position sensor is located. So while heads and lifters and push rods can be swapped from Gen3 to 4, the cams cannot all because of the position sensor.
