Taking the family on a trip to check out a '65 Malibu SS tomorrow. The car needs a total restore but the price isn't too bad so hopefully I can strike a deal if its worth dealing for.
Ever since I sold my '69 Camaro, I miss having someihing in the garage to mess with. Since my son is almost 8 months now it can be a future father son project. Who knows by the time its ready for the powertrain it may have a hybrid engine in it...LOL or just leave the holes in the floors and ride "Flintstone Style". I guess I am getting ahead of myself and better wait and see what tomorrow brings.https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2005/04/willy_nilly-1.gif

I appreciate that Darrin, but that is more coin than I want to shell out at this time. The one thing I always wanted to do was a full restore, metal work and all on a car. I was too scared to mess my old one up so I never touched it. Hopefully this car isnt too swiss cheesed for me (kind of what I am expecting).
There is a 73 LT in Chesterton, In for $8300 on Craigslist, the guy sent me some pics and it looks real solid, says he needs the money for medical bills, might be able to pick it up for a song. That is option 2 if this one falls through. I really like RS split bumpers, and this one is not, kind of a negative for me. Suppose it could be converted though.

Go for the '65. That swhat I ended up with after 5 years of searching for the right project and I wouldnt have it any other way. Finding parts for the '65 is a little harder than say a '68-72, but the '65s hardly ever done and it is truly a cool car.

Yeah I am really excited, I just hope it wasn't a 300 mi round trip for nothing. That is why I am bringing the family so we can at least stop in Indy and go to the Zoo or something.
I owned a '73 LT RS Z/28 in High School and thought it would be a trip back in memory lane... LOL.
Yes it was the Yellow one. Seem like a solid car, but I would be buying alot of stuff on it I know I will change. That is why I like the Malibu because it is just more or less a shell.

WOW! As I suspected the car was in need of a FULL resto. not sure if I want to take on such a large undertaking. He said he had a couple more people going to look at it, so if it sells then it does but it gives me a little more time to ponder the task.
Here is the link.

You can find something cleaner....but if you can grab it for a grand then you make a few bucks parting it out and saving some for another car. It is a decent start if the roof and floors are good.
I'd pass on the title issue alone.

The 64 nose on it would be a real problem for me. 65 fenders aren't so easy to come by in decent shape.

The floor is total junk including the cross braces. The trunk pan is totally shot and one of the frame mounts on the rear was gone. It was in pretty bad shape.
