Not all stores offer paper. Like our Wal-Mart doesn't. Yet anyway.

Right they want to make money now by making you buy a bag you can bring in everday. They save money this way

its funny how many everyday products we use are made of some sort of petroleum...plastic bags, soda bottles, food containers. what ever happened to good ole glass bottles and containers?

Sorry.. I live in a 3rd story apartment. Paper bags, at least in there old design would be a major PITA.

Besides, I recycle my bags. We used them at the swap meet for people buying our recycled auto parts :)

There is more waste in plastic food/retail packaging.

We stopped using plastic bags awhile ago. Our local market has cotton/poly bags for a $1 each, so now we reuse them. They are stronger and carry alot more items anyway.

If we didn't use plastic bags we wouldn't have trash can liners. Our trash can under the sink is perfect size for the little boogers.
So you propose we buy black plastic trash bags to use for the trash? We would still be throwing away the same amount of plastic bags!
Let's ban all plastic! It's evil!
This is just another cause that the professional protestors over at PETA or the WWF are wasting their time promoting.
Did you know that you shouldn't own pets either?
You shouldn't take your kid fishing. Bass are territorial, and once they are caught and released, these fish may be unable to find their homes and “be fated to wander aimlessly".
You shouldn't let your kid have a pet fish. Fish bowls give fish “a distorted view of reality.” I'm not going to take my kid's fish away from her.

It sucks that some animals die because of carelesness of humans but, again, if I don't get the plastic bag at the store I'm going to have to buy one anyway to put my trash in! Otherwise I would be down for it.
Some of their causes are noble. Like, two of them.

I think some folks are missing the point.

The slide show pics are over the top obviously but the message of using less and reusing what we can is a good one.

Or I don't know, maybe the garbage man should just throw away the whole trash can every time he picks up the trash.

All well and good but the message is ;lost with all the fear mongering. Every group claims their 1 cause will save the world.
