Ok, my Camaro is up for sale now so I can get one..

And I bet he had the AC going while he did it.. lol
I expected a higher top speed in the long straigtaway.

same here, looks like he upshifted when he should have let it kept revving. I see no other reason it shouldn't have continued to accelerate with an over 200mph top speed.

Yea, it sorta hung up at 176... what lap time would it have done if he kept in it?

ECM limited top end?
I'd swap the Camaro in a heartbeat.

I'd swap the Camaro in a heartbeat.I wouldn't, no can fit. But then again, that;'s more alogistics problem. I first need to overcome my cash flow problem.

DAMN! Talk about wood!
The first thing I noticed was how little he shifted. I would have expected a lot more rowing action. Then I started watching his RPMs. He was coming out of the corners as low as 2900 and seemed to have a shift point of 6300. That sucker has some torque, no doubt about it.
Judging buy his conservative shifting and low upper RPM, I would say the car probably wasn't much different than what you would buy off of the dealer's lot.
Yes, I want one too.

In the first press release thing they said there was a headwind on the straight.

Other than safety equipment it is exactly like what you would buy off the dealer's lot. It was not driven by a professional race driver either. On street tires also....Amazing piece of engineering.

I wonder what Hans Stuck could get out of that thing.
I got nervous looking at the drivers grip on the steering wheel. With the big spokes it looked like he wasn't able to get his hand around the wheel. That would freak me out.

I think they're just playing it up, waiting for the Wonder-Jap car to beat them, and then just absolutely annihilate the time. He seemed to way underdrive the car in a lot of the course.
I want one.

Yep the guy seemed to know the track and judging from th sound of the tires they were near there limit. Give him better tires and some seat time in the car and that video would look mild.

The nissan gt-r will not come close. There are lots of stories about the prep the gtr had before its run, and it was still beat. The gtr has a great drivetrain, but it's hard to argue with over a hundred more horses and probably 800 lbs less weigth.
I ran the nurburgring in '92 in a renault rental car, it is a fantastic track. It is hard to see from the video how much the elevation changes, some of it is so steep that my car wouldn't accelerate at all in third gear uphills. If you ever get to europe, it is worth a day trip. When I went, they wouldn't let me tape the video camera to the outside of the car, and I couldnt get it to stick to the dash, so I hand held it with my shifting hand. Kind of hard to take video while driving, but lots of fun.
