1978 Firebird Resto

Hey, guys.

I am working on my second project right now. I built a FFR Cobra reblica over the last couple of years, and my 5 year old and I were looking for another gig.

I had a 1978 TA in high school and decided to do a resto/mod-protouring version of an F-body recently. A few months ago I got a 1978 Firebird with a 305 for $2k. The car runs, but it has a ton of miles on it. I have pulled out the interior and plan on putting a Hotchkis suspension on it first. My plan calls for a 383 stroker (most likely with NOS), a new interior, and body/paint. I want to go with 18" wheels and a clean body layout. Any suggestions or photos would be helpful.

Alriiiight, great to have you here! ooooo, the blue is an interesting color, haha. Looks like a good starting point.

If your first project is suspension: Hotchkis is a good direction to go. Make sure all of your bushings are in good shape. Use aluminum subframe bushings and get some subframe connectors under there ASAP. Then add g-braces and fender braces. These things wiggle like they have a hinge at the base of the windshield if you don't brace up the structure as much as you can. All of this will help the hotchkis stuff do its job better!

Thanks for the reply.

I started pulling out all of the interior last night. Nothing real bad, but it does have two small holes in the passenger floorboard.

Hopefully I'll get the suspension parts on order from YearOne by the end of the month. I read about the subframe connectors, so thanks for that info. I'll make sure to add those to the list as well as those bushings.
