I'm putting together a 350 with GM's Fast Burn aluminum heads for my 67 Camaro and in my research for headers found that Edelbrock is coming out with a stainless steel header #65093 (not yet available, unknown price) for 67-69 Camaro's and 68-74 Nova's that use "D" port heads. 1-3/4 tubes and 3-1/2 collectors. I know Sanderson and Street & Performance also offer headers. Has anyone used these before and how was the fit & finish?

3-1/2" collector? Wow.

That's what their on-line catalog states. When I contacted Chris Rowe from Edelbrock he said they were still in development, so I guess it could change if they have floor space conflicts. I'm curious to see an image of them when they become available. I'm in no hurry, I'm gathering funds and parts to turn my motor into a hydraulic roller.

Rag-Rat,
I also used a Vortec-style head (like the Fastburns, but I used Edelbrock E-Tec 200's. I also have a set of Fastburns and they bolt and match up perfect there too.) What I did was buy a header that fit my car (I used 1 3/4" Hedman Huslers), then plugged up the original hole and drilled new holes .250" lower on the header flange to accomodate the raised exhaust runners.
A testfit after the mods showed a perfect matchup between port and header. I tweaked the holes a little with a rattail file, beadblasted the whole set and sent them out for ceramic coating. They've been working fine since. Here's a picture - if you look closely at the holes you can see a little 'eyebrow' where I put the plugs in:

I used the Doug's 375y on my fast burn D-Port heads.

I added one clearance dent for extra starter clearance. It's not as bad as it looks - maybe 1/4" deep max. The rest are reflections and mild surface irregularities that the flash brings out.

OK,,,they look bad on my old screen

Thanks for the info. Are the E-Tec heads angle plug or straight plug? I take it there were no issues with the headers coming in contact with the starter, oil filter, p/s gearbox or floorboards? I have a fab shop near me that could probably do the work.

For well fitting headers, you may want to check into Lemons and Stahl. They likely won't be in any catalog and will require a phone call. They are not going to be inexpensive, but will be very nice parts.

Rag-Rat,
Check the starter for clearance - you might want another 1/4" of clearance hence the visible ding in my header tube. Can't beat a test-fit before coating for verifying your specific clearances.

Lemon's Headers! Dan build headers that work with the raised ports of a fast burn head. They are not cheap, but they fit and are art work.
