I have a 69 camaro with LS1 calipers and rotors all around. Right now I have a 15/16" manual master and I dont like the amount of travel in the brake pedal. I'm thinking of going to a 1" master to shorten the pedal travel, will 1/16" more make a large difference in pedal travel? Enough to warrant the change or should I not even bother?

Going with the 1" bore MC will indeed shorten your pedal travel but it will also increase the pedal effort. How is the effort now?

Thanks for the reply. The effort is not bad at all right now. I think a little more effort or a stiffer pedal would be more to my liking. I'm hoping a larger bore will give a little more feel/feedback in the pedal.

You could also swap out the front calipers for the smaller, 40.5mm piston C5/C6 units versus the 43mm LS1 calipers. You'll not only get a higher, firmer pedal, but you'll also get a stiffer caliper.

Otherwise, 1" bore should make a noticeable difference in both pedal travel and effort of ~12%.

Thanks Tobin,
Will those calipers (C5/C6) bolt up to my existing brackets and abutements?

Thanks Tobin,

The C5/C6 and LS1 F-body caliper bodies are interchangeable, but they do use different anti-rattle springs. More acurately, the C5 calipers use different anti-rattle springs and the C6 don't use any. Aside from the potential wheel fitment issues due to the thicker bridge of the C5/C6 calipers, it's a direct swap using your existing LS1 F-body abutments, pins, and rubber boots.
