Anyone know how I can get the coating stripped and not hurt the rotors? I hate them being all black, and I wanna strip them and have them zinc washed.

Get in touch with Frank @ Prodigy, see if you can swap em for a set of zincs? I'd just chuck em up on the lathe and cut it off.

It comes off on the friction surface.

Otherwise I would imagine oven cleaner would work...but I'd rather have black rotors than rusty ones.

They don't stay all black. After use the only areas left black are the areas that would be dark anyways (hole radius, slots, vanes)

The black coating is far superior to the zinc and holds up MUCH better.

What size rotors? I will trade you for the zinc ones on Penny. lol

I just wished they stayed black!

if they stayed all black it'd be awesome, I just think there's gonna be a black ring around them. Not as big as yours I don't think steve, 13 front, 12.2 Back. Its the SL6 front and 4 Piston rears

The black is zinc black chromate plating and it is better than bright zinc in terms of corrosion protection. I have them and it comes off the friction surface as everyone says. Unless your pads are way away from the out diameter, I don't think you're going to notice a ring.

Ran the new black rotors on my chevelle, and they definitely do not stay all black, but it is nice that the o.d. of the rotors stay black, and the counter sunk drilled holes stay black too.
