I just put a set on my shop truck. Black soft 8's, 17x8 on the front and 17x9 on the rear. I'm having problems resizing the pics. I'll post them up as soon as I figure it out.

Check NastyZ28.com there is a handful of guys. They can give you all their specs. The Orange one is a guy named Tommy on NastyZ28 not sure what his SN is. The backs are widened but i was looking to do the same thing.

For those who own a set of 17 inch Steelies.
What kind of weight per wheel are we talking about?
Thanks

I have a set of Soft 8's on the 'cuda. If I wasn't in the desert I would have pics to share but they are heavy as SH!+. I would think twice about getting a set again. They look killer but keep in mind they are made for trucks, probably more for 4x4 trucks.
I like them but they were bought simply because I didn't want to finalize my wheel choice so early in the build by purchasing uber-expensive wheels only to get bange up in the build process. I had to have something also that would clear the brakes and the 15's weren't doing it.
Mine are 17's and my 13'' ers fit.

I love the steelie look and am considering upgrading my 15's to 17s so I can run a better tire. I am concerned about the weight increase though, its the last thing my car needs is more weight given the 502

I think everyone would...haha
yeah but i'm in the same boast as you.. I don't want to spend 3+K on a set of wheels and not have them perfect.. and since i'm still doing crap to my car.. i'm sure something is gonna change... so these are more or less a test bed.

I will have my wife send pics from the laptop back home. When I came on deployment I wasn't thinking, " I better bring my pics to war with me!" LOL.
I am less than a month comming home but I will get her to send them. She'll probably send the worst ones. There aren't really any great ones because I concentrated on the drivetrain and suspension. Hence the cheap wheels, I think they were like $55 from summit. I think I am going to get a set of VWW V48's in 17x9 and 17x11. They were used on the Trans-Am 'cudas in the 70 and 71 season.
With the black steelies orthe V48's, it will look like a racer. So I win either way. I am sure the V48's are 1/2 the weight too.
The car is Army tank green, primer brown AND gray. I haven't put an ounce of effort into the paint yet so it somewhat resembles a junkyard warrior, especially with the black wheels!

These are the same wheels my brother-in-law used on his lifted 4x4 Dakota. Apparently they look good on just about anything

Where do you get these 17" "steel" wheels from, who's making them?
Do they have GM 4 3/4" bolt pattern?
Thanks ahead of time

Hmmm. I could get my tires and those steel 17"-ers until I decide on rims so I can get a decent brake package going. Will C5 calipers fit?

What size is your rim and tire combo?
I went to Summits website and found them, but the back spacing is 4.5" to 5", will those work on a G-body?
I would like go for a NASCAR style look, those Ole Buicks from the 80's era in NASCAR was very cool. I liked the low and quick look.

I was going to get mine from Summit, but took the printout to Discount, and they beat the price AND mounted/balanced them. Summit charged extra for this service.
They may be heavy, but my wallet was very appreciative... so I was able to do more to the car. I'm all about bang for the buck! :)

17x8 4.5BS.. fronts are 235/45/17 rears are 275/40/17... rears really shouldn't be on the back.. as the rims a bit small.. but it's good enough for burnouts.

You could get the 17X9s widened and powdercoated again, if you want to run a huge rear tire. Not a problem, probably what i'm going to do. Waiting to get the suspension in order first.
