Tranny question?

Hello guys. I am building a 1969 Camaro with a twin-turbo small block chevy that is capable of 1200+ horses and 1000+ lb.-ft. The car will be a driver that will see occasional road races. I wanted to know if anyone know of a good 5- or 6-speed manual transmission that would be able to handle the available power without sending parts through the floorboard or grenading into a million peices. Any help is greatly appreciated. PS, does anyone know how much the intake manifold on Charley Lillard's "Mule" cost? Thanks

That's A LOT of power. Big factor for you will be how much of that is going to be hitting the ground. If you are not going to be running slicks etc... and putting all that torque on the ground then you might want to check out the Tremec TKO 5 Speeds.

The TKO 600's would be your best one to consider, Tremec rates them for up to 600 ft/lb. There are two versions of TKO 600's one has a .64 5th gear and the other has a .82 5th gear. The installation for the TKO is very simple going in to a 69 Camaro. No cutting of the tunnel and only a 1" to 2" trim from the right hand corner of the stock tranny hole in the floor. The shifter will pop up in the stock postion of your console.
