So my other threads were desimated when my photo hosting site lost all its data. Oh well I'll just start over.

I started my roll-bar install last January which spun into installing the Goodmark quarters and roof one year earlier than planned. I drove the car for the first time this year at 11pm Thursday June 12th. The next day myself and Frank ( Hillrod ) drove up to Madison WI to catch the last day of the HRPT.

Here are a few quick pics from last night. I started to install the sound deadner for the roof and made up numbers for the upcomming high speed autocross event.

The race will be held at Blackhawk Farms in South Beloit IL, it is a 1.95 mile 7 turn road track. Speeds in my car should approach around 120mph in the main straight and the approach to turn 7. The kink at 6a into 7 is the hairest portion of the track, you have to stay under power and wait to brake until the car is over it and straightened out. If you don't the car unloads the suspension and you end up off the pavement. ( I have done it and its not fun ) The class I will be running is Street Unlimited.

Lost track of it. I sold it 1 1/2 years ago to a guy in MI and he traded it for something else.

I just ordered a new tag ( 1 G LSX ) :)

Update: So on that track my best time was 1:28.282 Our times are from a drag-strip start into turn 1 for one flying lap on cold tires. The time was done in my 95 Camaro which has an LS1 T56, suspension and brake upgrades. It will be interesting to see how well I do in the 69 which has basically the same combo, albeit with smaller rubber on front, larger on the rear, stickier tires and no ABS. ( threshold braking Baby!! )

that 6a-7 section does indeed look like a bit of a heartstopper... Whole track looks to be a pretty good mix. Make sure to post pics/vids of you on the track!

I'm attaching a Chain to it so I can throw it out like an anchor into turn 7 for an equal and opposite Reaction.

So my first track outing was more than I could have imagined!!!

The car is everything I could ask for. ( still needs suspension and brake tuning but fun, fun, fun none the less )

So the first practice session I end up first car with a clear track in front of me. Yeah baby!!! Well into turn one I stab the brakes and low and behold the bias I set on slow city streets is way to much rear brake. I get a nice rear end slid, of course to the wrong side, while approaching the first corner. No problem I man-handle the manual rack and make it around. Four laps and I'm stoked but Holy Crap this thing is a hand full. I LOVE it!!!

The second practice session, after an adjustment, is better but still to much rear. Needless to say I'm taking it easy on corner entry as the cars rear is skating back and forth. I find a C5 Zo6 growing smaller in the rear view on the main straight. Hahaha buddy, no cats, 3" exh, and shes only a stock LS1, eat me corvette boy!!!

Now comes the third practice, Hot Damm! I'm glued to this C6's rear, the brakes are near perfect. It was not untill after the session that I realize how I felt at one with the car on that outing. H-ell Ya!!! timed runs after lunch I'm ready.

So long story short, I'm power sliding the car around now and getting some slight 4 wheel drift under hard acceleration through the back stretch. The first timed run goes by without a hitch,at least the timed portion. The first brake marker is about 75 feet after the timers, so I'm hard on the brakes, from 110 mph, and loose the dam thing to the inside of turn one. D'oh!! 4 wheels off gives me a DNF for that run, Oh well I still get to see a posted time.

After only two timed runs the weather goes south, way south. We had a hail storm that kept up for 5 min., as luck would have it no damage, but the sound inside a gutted car was horrendous.

So after a year away from the track and learning a new setup I was able to post a best time within .652 seconds of my other cars best ever. Here a some basic pics when the video is ready I'll post it in the multimedia section.

The last pics shows some of the flooding after the storm. We sent cars around the track at 45 mph for 30 min to dry it off then went racing again.

Looks good Matt! Once you get some more laps on it, you'll get it shook down. Next season I will have to come out and give you a run for your money.

I took the car to the drag strip last night. Right out of the gate she ran a traction limited 12.9 110 mph. This was without any adjustments, she still had the same air pressure in the tires from the track event and 1*+ negative Camber. The track was well prepped and I could not get under 2 second 60 ft times. ( wheel spin ) I was going through the traps around 6k in 4th with good wheel spin at each shift point. I have not had a chance to weigh the car yet but I'm guessing 3200, as the interior only has front seats. I made 6 passes all pretty consistant with the best being 12.93 et and 110.85 mph. So for a stock ls1 without fuel or spark tunning I'm very happy.

One thing that was a little un-nerving was the clutch pedal almost sticking to the floor after a back to back run. It would come back to a normal height about the half way point back to the pits. I remember reading something about the stock clutches having this problem.

My first practice lap back in July, the brake bias was way off, which had this run 10 seconds slower than my best timed lap last week. More to come...........

1st lap

2-4 lap first session 3rd lap crossed up

2-4 2nd session pushing it harder still had brake issues
