I am adapting a DSE PS pump with integrated reservoir to a TPI serpentine belt set-up. I have a pulley for the PS pump but the ID of the pulley is larger than the OD of the PS pump output shaft. i am planning on machining a "tube" to couple the two. My plan is for a tight fit in the pulley which i will weld into place, and then a press fit on the PS pump shaft.

The PS pump shaft is described by DSE at 0.662 OD. Anyone know how much interference would be advised?

Thanks!

I just went through this. I talked to DSE and the shaft on the Type II pump is .664 and the pulley is a .662. So I had my stock style aluminum pulley reamed to a .002 press fit and it worked perfectly. You need a pulley intaller/puller to put it on as it is to tight to just install with the center bolt. But with the puller it works perfectly.

The guys who machined it said it would never work though. They thought it would be way to tight. Wrong.
