View Full Version : C6 Z06 Lower Control Arms

Has anybody ever used the C6 Corvette Z06 "Magnesium " lower control arms on a project ?
The Z06 uses a different lower control arm than the Standard Corvette. The upper arms , hubs and spindles/knuckles are the same part number.
I've been told that the Z06 lower arms are Magnesium.
I've also gotten different opinions as to whether the geometry of the lower arm is different between the Z06 and Regular Vette.
Does any body know the answer ?
Is there an advantage or disadvantage to using the Magnesium Z06 lower arms ?

weight primarily....plus making pretty sparks when you bottom out.

What are the price differences like? Can you list the part numbers you have? thanks

I'm using the Z06 LCAs on my car.

I don't know where the magnesium rumor got started, but they're aluminum just like the standard C6. The ONLY difference between C6 and standard Z06 is slightly higher durmeter bushings accompanied by gold anodized aluminum sleeves (standard C6 uses cad plated steel). Desipite the aluminum bushings sleeves, the difference in weight is less than 8oz.

Dimensionally they are the same, to the .0005in (that's as close as I can measure).

From what I understand from GM is that only the front craddle is Magnesium everything else is aluminum like the standard C6 excepts for the bushings like was already mentioned.

Silver69 is correct! Dimensionally the same as stock C6 and aluminum.

yes with specially designed subframes, utilizing the c6 susp parts

Hell , I work at a GM dealer and I couldn't even get any of the pople at Gm ParTech to answer my question.
They're just office geeks that look up factory numbers for a specific VIN , but they don't know any of the engineering specs.
I can't even get an engineer on the phone.
