I bought this car recently and the previous owner stated it is lowered in the front 1.5" and 2" in the back. Too bad it's not 2" or 2.5" in the front. He is not sure what is under it and I'm not either. My main question is if there are front springs for these cars that lower them that much or do I need to go with something else? I really want to clear up the wheel gap in the front. Thanks.

What brand springs are they? If they are quality then i'd just cut 3/4" coil off the front and add a 1" or 1 1/2" block for the rear.

Yeah, it looks high.
Second gen's are tricky to install the front coils in because it's so hard to see up in the spring pocket. Verify the coils are properly seated at the top. When lowered the front can easily be hitting the bumpstops a lot, so if you want it very low, then consider stiffer coils.

I'll check the springs again but they looked seated well. I was hoping someone knew of some lower springs for it. How safe is cutting on the springs?

check the top of the spring and make sure the spring is not sitting on the "crown" as David mentioned it is hard to see at the top, also check to see if the upper control arm bump stop is not sitting on the frame.
