What Would Pro-Touring.com Do?

My Firebird is in for paint right now...

Thinking I'll shave the sidemarker lights, delete the wheel well and rocker trim and delete the Formula 400 and P O N T I A C emblems for a smoother look... unless the emblems are an integral part of the car?

PT question: Keep the emblems or delete them?
PT question: Keep the side marker lights or delete them?

I should have it back in 3 weeks... then 18" Rushforth wheels all around and KORE3 Z51 brakes and she's back on the road... shooting for July 4th!

Playing with changing the color to something else too... any thoughts? Keep it the same color?
Would like something that has the same pop as the Prowler Orange on Penny... but in burgundy...
It will have a “show car” finish but it's still just my cruiser/driver... that'll look mean! (c:]

Let me know your thoughts...

That is a good looking ride Wingnut! (ex-USMChere) Nice to see 3 F-bodies in the driveway too!

IMHO, the emblems have got to go. On your ride,....I would probably even get rid of the wheel-well molding.

I'm removing the marker lights on my 69 because I hate the gawdiness of the bezels but on YOUR car, I'd keep them. I think they are good looking.

"Wingnut" LOL I've been active duty for 22.5 years now...

But I am a Buckeye... so you have to like that!

Thanks for the input...

I have my Cougar painted inferno red. It is an 05 Dodge Magnum color it really pops and I get tons of compliments on the color.

Ty, I would delete the emblems and wheel well moldings but leave the side markers. I'm looking at this from a surface perspective, you have a lot of area in front of that front wheel and the markers break it up nicely. Plus they're nice looking markers too. As far as the color...to each his own but I think burgandy is kinda boring, sorry bro. I would go with something more exciting like Viper Blue or maybe even Prowler Orange. Viper Red would also look killer.

But it's your car, I'm just throwin' in my $.02. Mine is silver and there are people who don't like silver but I did it anyway. In the end it's your choice. Good luck with it.

What Rushforth wheels did you go with?

Maybe it's different for 2nd gens, been a long time since I sold my '71.
But I deleted the emblems on my '67 Firebird, and I constantly get complimented on my " Nice Camaro".
Thinking of putting them back on.

Man, that is a sweet Formula!
What color have you picked? If it is going to be a dark color, than deleting all the stainless trim will look great. Including blacking out the window moldings or painting them body color, and deleting the rocker and wheel openings. I would leave the side markers as they really look pretty good on these cars.
The Pontiac emblems on the rear may keep the "nice Camaro" comments to a minimum, so I'd leave 'em on.

Personally, I like the side marker lights and feel they serve as a extra saftey feature, so leave them. Ditch the emblems and rocker panel but leave the wheel well chrome, without that, the car looks too plain to me. That little bit of chrome really helps any car's looks IMO.

Ditch the moldings and emblems. I agree with Tony about the markers, keep 'em.

Ordered my wheels and brakes yesterday and a new front lower valance panel from Year One should be here Thursday. Not cutting any corners and the old/original was just too outta shape.

I ordered 18" Rushforth Superspokes from Jon @ DriverzInc with brushed/cleared centers and polished hoops. 18x8 and 18x10 with Falkens new 615 series rubber; 255/45/18 up front and 295/40/18 out back. Should fill up those big round wheel wells nicely.

For brakes I went to KORE3 and Tobin hooked me up with a complete C6 Z51 brake kit front and rear. 13.4" DBA drilled/slotted rotors up front and 13" rotors out back should fill up those 18" Rushforth's pretty well too.

Only 2 weeks for the brakes and only 3 weeks to build and 1 week to deliver my wheels and tires from California to middle Georgia! Unbelievable customer service from both DriverzInc and KORE3! I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their ride!!

The emblems and mouldings could always be added later if you changed your mind. The sidemarkers are a bit more difficult.

My favorite PT cars look close to original as far as the body goes, but that's just me.
