I haven't been actively looking for a new project car, since mine is only 90% finished, but I'm having a hard time passing this up. It's a 69 tempest convertible that had an interior fire. It looks/sounds like the fire was limited to the interior only, and the rest of the car is complete. It still has the 400 engine, and looks OK otherwise (needs RR QTR and floor pan replacement). Again, I wasn't looking for a new project just yet, but the wife is on board, and that makes it hard to say no. Best of all, the car is only $1k. Any thoughts on whether it makes sense???:grouphug:
My initial thoughts were to do it nice and simple, maybe LS motor, but nothing more.

at 1K, I'd pick it up and store it while you finish project A. Then get started on it.
At the very least it sounds like a car you could build and turn for a small profit.
I like Pontiacs,....I like convertibles,.......I'd buy it and not spend a single penny on it until my main project was completed!

i agree if you have the extra 1k sitting there do it..at the least you could resell it and get money back or make some..

Having the 1k to purchase it is only half the problem. If you have place to keep it THAT IS OUT OF THE WAY OF YOU CURRENT PROJECT!!! go for it. if not take a pass. If you are going to do this first to flip it...are you gonna be happy delaying YOUR project for that long??? No one else can make the decision for you. Everyone is in a different situation and only you know if it makes sense for you.

Sorry, forgot to include more info. I have an RV pad on the side of the house that I can park the car on, and the money shouldn't slow the car down, although at this point, after 5 years, what would another month or 2 matter!

HAHA, I suppose not much. And I guess outside storage in Phoenix is not much of a problem...do that here in Chicago and come back to a much smaller pile of parts than you parked there 6 months earlier...LOL I was just trying to remind you of issues we all tend to forget about when we get excited over a new project...when you have two project cars available (or 10) you WILL spend money on all of them at the same time. Ask me how I know:guilty:...LOL

I completely understand. I have a severe case of ADD when I get around project cars. :seizure:
The only concern is from the fire damage. Not sure if I'll be running into problems like weakened sheet metal due to heat damage....
...good point. Roof may be warped.
