View Full Version : new springs-how long to settle in?

it's just high for my taste right now. the springs aren't actually new. they were installed in a car a few years ago. it only got driven a little bit then they were taken out and sat. the stance is right but there's still quite a bit of wheel clearance.

Depends on spring and manufacturer.

New... maybe 30 days until they are fully settled. But used... I would say it would depend on who long they were used and what type of use.

'Driven a little bit' doesnt answer the above.

Install them, drive them for 30 days... while measuring them once a week to watch for settling... and when they stop settling, your done. It may take 30... or it may not. If used like you say, I would guess a shorter time line.

i don't much like the ambiguity myself, but...
30 days is great, this way i have a max time.

i think the quality of the spring material is key. i'd wait at least a couple of months before declaring 'they have dropped as much as they will'.
