Can you fit a 4l80e onto a 1978 small block camaro engine ,ie the bolt pattern do they match and what flywheel torque convertor do i use .

I believe there are two different bolt patterns, standard Chevy, and LS series. I also believe that the two can be mixed, though it's best to get the proper pattern.
I do know that they are available in the Chevy bolt pattern. Big block or small block is the same pattern, and I know the 4L80E was used behind big blocks.
I'm not sure about converter bolt spacing. I think it's the same as what the TH-400 used. The LS series converters might be different.
