So I've finally made some real progress on Redfire, so I'd thought I'd share some pics of the metal work. I'm attempting all the metal work myself which includes new everything. I'm concentrating on getting back to a roller before working on the suspension and drivetrain. Ron

Here's the new inner quarter replacement on the pass side. This $70 panel saved me at least day of fabbing

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

re-skinning the pass door, the goodmark skin fits good. The door fitting on the car is different story.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

and here's some pics of the DSE closeout and blower motor smoothing. I welded the DSE using rosets (sp?) from behind to keep the outer lip intact.

Here's the back-half mocked together with the poor fitting deck lid. I'm going to try the original as it measures anywhere from an eighth to a quarter wider!!!

Thanks guys!! I forgot to include some pics from last month when I installed the new goodmark speaker shelf which actually installed without a fight! It goes from the back seat to inside the trunk and includes the weather strip lip. Its a new stamping from goodmark and its a pretty nice peice. Mine was all cut up from some speaker-crazy previous owner.

So it's been I while I haven't posted. Just now perfecting the measurements on the back half and going to *finally* weld it up. Also need to pull the roof panel first. I'm foregoing the minitubbing for now. Here's a couple pics of the MD valance mock up:

I just got my vent delete CF cowl from Anvil. This peice is so nice, I almost don't want to paint over it.

Any pictures of the dash install? I think I have to do that next myself.

redfire69

Upper dash hasn't been welded in yet. I'll take some pics when I do. Pretty easy job, just leave enough of the old dash to overlap for roset welds. On the cowl you just need to grind out the spot welds to free the dash from that side.

I was wondering where you purchased your custom front valance from?

Directly from Marquez Design, it does require some trimming on the rad support bracket and eliminates some of the bumper brackets:

Hey Chris,

Got your PM, but I'll post the link here for those searching. Rick's First Gen has them, looks like the price went up to $83.

20 minutes and a few cutoff wheels = minus 1 roof panel, LOL! Problem is I also need the roof support at the windshield. Looks like my camaro had one last rusty surprise. I'm glad this piece is re-popped.

So besides the rust along the window channels on the roof panel, I knew this small hole was hiding a bigger problem.... check out the pics, the second one is the underside of the roof panel near the driver's a-pillar.

Thats all the pictures we get?!!! I was hoping to see the install of the roof panel. LOL
I know, in due time.
Nice work, I hope it all lines up good in the end. Seems like you are the only lucky one with the fitment with these aftermarket parts.

Who are you buying your replacements pieces from?

Nice door handles.
I may have missed it but what color are you painting your car?

redfire69

Thanks Jinx. Roof hasn't been installed yet. I will update w more pics in the spring. Making time for family so no time for redfire right now. :) Panels are from local guy mostly Dynacorn and Goodmark. AMD seems much better but all need a *little* tweaking to get the fit right. Right now I'm leaning toward the red jewel tintcoat from the '10 Camaro. Thanks! Ron

just wondering, but how are those installed? does the aluminum piece anchor it down to the body?

also, why no minitubs? you're doing an incredible amount of work just to skip those altogether.

On the gilles, the CF part is stepped where I will have to fab a stepped opening in the quarter to accept the part. The billet gille is anchored to the CF part from the back. I'll post up pics when I work on those.

Yeah, on the mini-tubs, I'm not really into the overly wide wheels, but I have to admit that might be short sited in the long run.

Just thought I'd share my final rendering for my Camaro. Carter totally nailed the vision I've had for this project, which, up until now was just a picture in my head!
