Hey folks, just took a job with a company located in the City of Industry and will be moving down there in the next month.
Does anyone know a nice area with affordable appartments? I'm only looking for a studio or 1 bedroom that is close to work (f***ing hate freeways.) The place is RIGHT off of the 60 freeway though. Ideally, I'd want a garage or I'll have to leave the Chevelle with my parents...
Any info would be great. Even a nudge in the right direction would be good. I don't know the area too well...
Thanks!

Some nice areas around here are Diamond Bar located right off the 60 and this is kind of a drive, but a newly developed city is Fontana. Lots of new holmes and apartments

I am near the 60 and the 15. There are some brand new apartments off of the 15 a couple of miles south of the 60. I don't know how much they cost or if that's too far for you. Just stay away from living in Pomona, that is a ghetto. A lot of areas in Chino are nice but I don't know of any apartments.

Kris, welcome to the area! The area around the 60 and the 15 are relatively inexpensive when compared to where I am (Huntington Beach).
You should be able to get a decently priced place, but don't know of too many studios that have garages as well. We have two bedroom places where I am at and they are 1360 each, which include garages.
I'm sure you'll be able to find something. I usually check apartments.com, or the local News Paper's website.
If you are going to be at the Winter Nationals, come by the Nitto booth Sunday, I'll most likely be hanging out. Would really like to meet you.

I'd recommend the Spearmint Rhino in the City of Industry as a great place to spend your new pay checks.

I agree with Diamond Bar. Very nice area and the best part is the little racing center off the 60. The area didn't look too bad when I was there. Pomona on the other hand could do better. I guess I'll talk at you later then Kris.

Chris,
It was great meeting you as well. I think this job in CA will be my best bet for now, but that isn't to say GM isn't in my future. I enjoyed meeting everyone there and know I would enjoy working with them someday.
Steve, Jon and the other CA guys, we'll definitely have to meet up sometime. I can't express how happy I am at the prospect of having people to hook up with at car shows and BS about cars with!
Poltergeist,
I think I'll be leaving the El Camino here in Ridgecrest. It looks like I might be buying a newer car in the coming weeks and I will be leaving the El Camino with my parents. My dad loves the car, so I know it will be in great hands. Who knows though, I might bring it if all else fails. I just wanted something more practical (relatively speaking) and a bit safer for all the times I visit home. Lots of trips up and down 395 in my future looks like...
Thanks for the advice so far. Found a place in Chino Hills that I'm considering. It's expensive, but has a garage and all the bells and whistles, so it might be worth it!

I know of one club in Pomona, but I'm not sure it's still open. Kinda dirty, but still cool. I better not mention the name, or the girl that "had her fun" with me....
so what's the new job? Inquiring minds want to know......
CONGRATS!!!

Kris- good luck & keep up the hard work; As I'm sure there are good things in your future (besides strip joints, which are WAAAAY better overseas. Trust me- I'm a sailor)
PS- ever do any 1st gen Firebirds? 68s?

If "out here" means Inland Empire, and not A.H., here are a few places:
"Deja Vu" in Montclair, "Spearmint Rhino" in Rialto, "Flesh" in San Bernardino, "Hustler" in Redlands, plus all the clubs in C.O.I.
Congrats on the new job and relocation! You may want to consider Corona, as its next to Chino Hills (just souteast), and generally speaking, slightly cheaper. The 15, 91, and 71 freeways all run right thru it. I rented an apartment that had single car garages, in Corona, near Serfas Club and Green River, just east of the Serfas Club park. Nice place and area. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in your car, regardless of where you live, as "L.A." traffic really does suck.
P.S. After visiting your gallery at your website, I sent you an email (a few days ago) in which I requested info about the cost of you doing a rendering for me; however, I understand thats probably not a priorty right now, but let me know when you get settled in.

Sure Steve, we'll go cruisin. It's an auto though. Personally I prefer the auto for the LA area. A manual would be fun, but from everything I've heard, the auto is actually a bit quicker than the manual.

Hey, I dont have my Thomas guide in front of me, but Glendora is a nice residential city, and just about 10 miles north of Industry.
Theres lots of appartments there, and reasonablly priced houses with garages to rent . My project lived in one for 2 years, at my buddys house there. lots of hot rodders, pretty girls, and nice folks too. plus its 5 min. from Pomona Drag strip / swap meet.
If your still looking, thats where I'd go. I'm 20 min. west, in Pasadena.

Welcome to the dark blue (oval) side... cheers on the new job too.
BTW, for you strip club fans, I've got a million stories about Tampa strip clubs... Mons Venus, the Doll House, 2001 Odyssey, Seven Seas, Deja Vu, Diamonds, etc. I went to community college with so many strippers in the early '90s, it wasn't even funny... the number of free shows and lap dances I was offered is frightening. It's almost too bad I was actually a nice guy at the core, 'cause I could've been the  .

Depending on your style you can get a hanger at the Chino old airforce base. We just got one with small living quarters but it will work for what we want it for, lots of room for cars!
