questions about wiring a one wire alternator gm 71 camaro ...do you remove the wires and cap off all four wires to external voltage regulator....not using factory gauges....does anything need changed a horn relay

THe brown wire @ the ext regulator is live with key on. That should be capped. The larger red wire is from the relay/splice for remote voltage sensing and also needs to be capped.

Any reason for a 1 wire? They are not as good as a 3 wire conversion.

If you are using a CSI alternator(the newer GM ones) only one of the wires needs to be hooked up other than the battery wire and the other wire can simply loop to batter post on alt.
Found my old alt from previous car at home I can take pics sometime this week maybe to illustrate.

i bought it a few years ago from summit....going to give a try...may upgrade next winter...thanks for the information
