I swore I would never drive a pinto... when I was living in Maui... I needed to borrow a car while I was looking for a car to buy. I borrowed one from a friend of mine for 3 months while he went out of state. It was a 1978 Pinto Wagon. Canary Yellow with Lime green interior.

The worst of it was, before I borrowed... I was the one that repainted it canary yellow! :seizure: It was a great car... held all my scuba equip and was never broken into... it was a "locals" car.

I broke the timing belt in it. about $20... back on the road.

i had to drive a white Pinto while I saved cash for my Doug Nash 5-speed (now Richmond). I think it lasted 4 months or so, pretty crappy car but it got me to work and back.

Wow, that's in nice shape for a Pinto. It looks a little high with those wheels/tires on it though. Needs some lower profile tires and a lowering job... At that height, it looks like a 4x4 AMC Wagon... and I hope the Clark W. Griswold panels are leaving soon.

I have a question....do the side panels come in a cherry wood finish? I'm not too keen on the darker stains.

Trapin, It comes in whatever color K-mart has on the shelf. Just be sure to get enough to do your kitchen cabinets too!

For the paint have the wood paneling airbrushed on the side of the car.. not THAT would be cool!!

There is a primo stock Pinto wagon down the street from me.. This thing looks like it just rolled off the lot...

Thanks Pinto. I've been waiting. :) That's cool. Does it have the engine to go along with the wheels? Maybe someone will photo shop the wagon for you and drop it.

I've been thinking it would be a great project to get a Pinto wagon for a driver. Throw in a 190hp 1988 TurboCoupe 2.3L (bolt-in for 74 and up Pintos) and T-5 combo and go stomp some unsuspecting sport compacts.

Of course it would be even funnier if you kept the wood grain, threw some fishing equipment in the back, and a "Keep on Truckin" sticker on the rear bumper.

F70t/a, No plans for this one, Its my parts chaser and ranch wagon. I bought it from an old lady that won a pair of them on "The Price Is Right" This one they used a lot, It has 250,000 miles and is sounding a bit loose on startup. May be a 302 in its future.

Tony, My last big Pinto project was the 2.3 from a Merkur in a wagon. I was dating a gal that worked at a Sears in Detroit and she got me a bunch of plastic veggies and stuff. I put them in bags and had them in the back of the car sometimes. People would want to race so I told them just a quick one because the ice cream was melting, Drop the clutch, Hit the spray and make them disappear in the rear view real quick. It had the woodgrain too!

bnoon, The woodgrain will stay for mow. Its in too good of shape to mess with. Besides I dont have enough time to mess with my real project with everything else that happens from day to day.
