Hey guys, I dont need to remind anyone of our current energy costs at the gas station so I am looking for alternatives to gasoline. My chevelle is being built to hopefully daily drive within the next 5 months and Im considering building the fuel system and calibration for ethanol as opposed to gasoline. My big issue is with ethanol availabilty in Sacramento, which is ironic considering all the alternative energy research being done by all the large car manufacturers in West Sac and the attempt to "go green" in Cali. Im wondering if anyone in my area knows of anywhere I can buy either E85 or pure ethanol at the pump or wholesale in 55 gal drums. I know that there is increased fuel consumption from alchohol but with prices for mouse piss 91 octane rising to over 4.20/gal around here I think that the lower fuel economy would be offset not only by the cheaper price of ethanol but also the increase in octane and therefor an increase in performance from my twin turbo 5.3 "baby ls1". Ive called to a few race gas suppliers and they had methanol but it is pretty pricey and definitely doesnt offset the cost but was hoping someone knew of ethanol that could be had in the 2-2.75/gal range. Im willing to drive within 30 miles of downtown Sac to get it, anymore than that and I think just the cost to get there will spoil any cost benefits from running it. If you can link me to any sites that show where to get it or if you know of a wholesale supplier in town please share. Hell if I can run it regularly I may even paint a little piece of corn somewhere inconspicuous on the car just to show my support for it. I also have political reasons for it and pollution isnt one of them but not spending my hard earned cash to fill the coffers of middle eastern regimes that would love nothing more that to see my demise is a big one in my book. My opinion is that my friends in Iraq qould be home just a bit sooner if those countries no longer meant anything to us and they could go back to being backward third world countries in the middle of nowhere. So if you can help me with my problem itd kill a few birds with one stone for me, thanks

nope. The only E85 in the area is off limits to the public. it's off of brodway I think. But only city cars can use it.

they have it at the smud building too of of 65th but again only for state and city cars. Is there any fuel warehouses in town that will sell it as a race fuel? I know they have a place out in west sac that sells different brands of race gas but dont know if they sell ethanol at a very reasonable price if at all. This f'n sucks thoughI found a site that shows where pumps are located and apparent the only place around here is in concord and wont be open till july, which for me isnt an issue but driving 100 miles roundtrip for fuel is retarded. There has to be a way, if indy cars run it at sonoma there has to be somewhere around here that supplies it. ARGGHHH this is sooo frustrating

E85 is coming to Sacramento! :camaro:
It will be in Carmichael, Rocklin, North Highlands, and Sacramento, all during 2008 fall/winter. Also the Concord (near SF) station is either open or very soon to open.

Mr. Quick, you are welcome.
The Pearson Fuels website has updated to show that the E85 pump in Concord is now open.
I also hear word that two of the Sacramento area E85 pumps will open September/October 2008... (but you know how permitting goes).
