Black rims on a Black ride

What’s your opinion on black rims on a black car? I think I like it if it has the chrome or polished lip. I just can't make up my mind or maybe its just that I haven't seen any I like on my car. Let me know your thoughts or any rim ideas.

Black it all out, everything on this car is Black except the brakes, outter wheels and handles. All trim, tail lights front end lights is black now and will post some shots of it soon

I've never been a fan of black wheels...but after seeing the cars above with the polished rim, I've changed my mind. That Camaro looks amazing.

For my own car, I'm going with polished wheels. I just need to swap out the fronts for a set with the right backspace.

Personally I'm a fan of chrome - wheels, bumpers, trim, etc.... I just don't understand why someone would take a chrome bumper and paint it.... To me it makes it look like a plastic bumper like you see on newer cars. But to each his/her own. All the cars featured in this thread are sweet regardless and would be an honor to own even if they are GM models.

I love the black with polished lips too or all polished for more Bling.. Either way , the black 69 looks killer and i like the black valve covers with the polished bracketry , so its going to look Bad Ass

So, after some delay I’ve decided that I like the black with the chrome/polished lips. I've spent some time searching with little luck and probably used bad search techniques. So, I thought that I would ask for some suggestions. Any and all suggestions appreciated. Below is a pic for photoshoping fun.

My budget is $1500. I plan on going with 17” X 8" fronts and 9.5" in rears. Wildwood brakes all around.

IMHO, on anything other than a few high end cars, race (inspired) cars, or exotics, black wheels on a black car always seems to come off looking cheap. I suspect it is because it's cheaper to paint wheels black than finish them in a brushed, machined, chrome, or polished finish, and black is universal way to hide ugly wheels. I also dislike that black wheels typically "disappear" into the tire and wheelwell, which also contributes to it looking cheap because it looks like they're trying to hide cheap and/or ugly wheels.

There are rare exceptions to this, but not not nearly as many as people think or assert. I actually think several of the examples posted earlier in this thread look cheap even if they're not.

I'm partial to this look, especially on a classic looking car. The all black look gives it a completely different vibe, and the design of the wheels can get lost.

The chrome on the centers on my truck are all messed up. I think I can get creative enough with some tape and either plasti-dip or paint the centers and salvage the chrome lips. Thanks for the 5 years of ideas....
