View Full Version : Ram Air V
I have been looking for what seems like a couple years now for a set of Ram Air V heads and the intake to go with them. Unfortunately I have no clue where to even begin to search for rare items like these. I figured if anybody could lend a helpfing hand hopefully somebody here might know where I might find a set. I watch Ebay daily for items but have never seen anything pop up.
Any help would be fantastic. Thanks guys

Thanks, I'll give them a shot. Nothing on their websight, but I'm sure you don't advertise items like RA V equipment.

Those are very very rare...
I have only seen maybe 2 sets of heads and one intake on ebay for years.
If you do find a set they will be about $5000 for heads and about $1500 for an intake.
Is there a special reason you are looking for them?
You can get equal or better performace with today's modern aluminum heads, and less weight too.

Is another good Pontiac engine builder.
Either of them can get you going in the right direction.
Cool factor really. The setup I have no is pretty stout to big with, and a little on the rare side, but I've wanted RA V's since I first looked at pictures of the heads.
It's just wishfull thinking really. Likelyhood of actually finding a set is rare. Since I've put my plans to turbocharge the car on hold I though it would be cool to see about a RA V setup. I just fear this car not being able to keep up with my Cobra. The Bird weighs in a couple hundred lbs less, but the Cobra makes very good power. I'll need 550 or so at the crank to have enough to pull away from the Cobra.

Those are going to be EXTRORDINARILY expensive and hard to find. I had a set of fresh never run early production(Dec. 70+Jan. 71) 1971 455 HO round ports which I took off of my motor and sold on E-Bay. I used the money to buy a pair of Edelbrock Alum. The HO's sold for $1300. I can hardly fathom what RamAir V's will set you back.

Oh I completely agree with that. I've got late 69 model year #62's on top of the 455 right now. I've seen them go for around $1100.00 as well.

Several of the folks in the above thread own Ram Air V engines and spare parts. You might ask the guy who posts under "Tom S" as I think he owns several.

On top of the $$$$ for the heads and intake you would also need custom headers made..

As well as a custom ground cam among other things
wow. i hope you find what your looking for. the legend of the RA V is awesome. to me i think they need to be on engines and running, to further prove their power and capabilities. just dont push it to the breaking point. that would suck. good luck on your quest.

Fortunately I have altitude on my side. It would take a LOT of work to get to the magical 700hp block splitting figure.

I'd recommend trying some of the guys on the classicalpontiac.com board. KRE and Jim Buttler may have some around, as was already mentioned.
I know a guy that probably has a set (if not more). Try Dan @ http://superdutyfirebirds.com/. He always has some rare stuff laying around. He did the exhaust on my Bird (http://www.2gfbody.com/fawkes/fb_album02.htm). Tell him Todd sent ya.
man isnt there a rule against posting porn on this site?

Over at the Performance Years forums, there is a fellow that is talking about making new Ram Air V heads and intake manifolds. Even talk of a crate engine.

When you find RA-V heads and intake, you will need custom headers too. THe ones you can fit a tennis ball through. LOL. I have only seen one live and one in a mag(69 RA-V Judge). But the RA-Vs are cool, as are the other raraties like the the SOHC Fords.
