I need a new linkage type gas medal for my 68 camaro with LS1 and was wondering if it mounts in the same location on the firewall or if I can shave off the factory mounting location I have on my firewall. My car is in the bodyshop as we speak and come monday hes going to start the firewall. Any help will be appreciatted. thanks

I would go with a cable set up , like the one by Lokar.:headbang:

Is it possible to mount it differently so I can shave off the part the stock one goes on?

head to a junkyard and get a 70-74 Nova or 70-72 Chevelle pedal- it bolts right into the stock location, and there is even a dimple on the firewall where the hole needs to be drilled for the cable to pass thru.
take the money saved on parts and labor and buy a couple of nice pairs of fuzzy dice or something.
