heres the deal...my lifter are shot. My choices are either replace the lifters by themselves (is this ok on used cam? what if any are the cons about this?) or replace the cam and lifters all together. The motor is a 427 All Aluminum small block crate from World.

I'm looking for drivability while still still being able to be spirited driving without worrying about adjusting the valves all the time. If i do go with a cam change should it be a hydraulic roller? what lifters?

If you can get away from flat tappet lifters, do so! The oil these days cannot support flat tappets in high performance profiles...

The best advise anyone can give you is to call Comp Cams or Crower tech lines. They are the experts!

I would do a hydraulic roller, bump the duration a little to 252 / 258 and the lift to 580s. Remember a roller can be bigger then a flat tappet and feel smaller. Will wake it up 50HP

Its just hard to believe that these lifters a junk now. It got to the point where I'd just let the car sit. I wanna squash this!

Thanks Frank and TT for the replies.

Sounds like a nice cam there Frank!

I suggest calling Comp Cams and letting them spec something. See how close they come to the range I choose.

These Mitchell motors are always very conservitive cams.

I was planning on that today. I'll post up what they suggest.

I dout they(Comp and Crane) will advise anything over the mid 230 range, but I would agree with Frank on his recommendation.
