Whats the best Forced induction kit to use on a 1st gen F body w/ an LS2? I want atleast 600 hp. Have fuel setup to support it

I think when it comes to what is the best you will have quite a few varying opinions for sure. My three choices are either intercooled twin turbo, intercooled Magnacharger or intercooled Procharger. Out of these choices there are a few questions that need to be answered to get you where you want to be.

Do you have a budget and if so how much?

Do you want instant low end torque or more linear power application?

Are you using a stock engine or is there going to be upgrades to the pistons, connecting rods and/or camshaft?

Are you looking to do this as a self install or professional shop?

600 HP (525-550 at the tires) is fairly easy to do with 8 PSI on a stock engine with proper fuel and tuning and still be reliable. Does not have to be crazy, just a proper setup with the right parts.

Hope this helps and feel free to e-mail or PM me if you have any questions.

I was told that the higher compression of the 6.0 iron block LQ4 motor would require a ton of tuning to make sure the motor did not hand grenade... what problems am i really looking at with this type of motor.. i plan on using a STS system...

Again it really depends on the final goals and proper setup. I am doing superchargers on LS2's, LS3's and LS7's at boost levels in the 6-8 PSI range with no issues. These engines are all 11.0-1 compression. I think the LQ4 is 10.0-1 or slightly higher and 8 PSI with a proper tune, spark plugs and fuel system should be good to go.

The first issue that comes up is cylinder pressure and the pistons. An improperly tuned engine can burn a piston. Too much compression and boost combo even with a safe tune can break the ringland on a stock piston between the top and second ring.

Hope this helps.
