Hey all Im robbie from nc. I've always been a pontiac nut Ive owned a few late 70's early 80's t/a's and a few other f bodies.

I aquired a 69 firebird from a good friend of mine last week. I'm about to get the rebuild on the way now. I've had some plans for one if I was lucky enough to get my hands on one. Now its happened.

Heres a few pics. The car is pretty rust free, its missing the drivers side 1/4 panel, which I have a new one to replace it. alot of little patches of surface rust but everything looks solid. I have a friend who owns a body shop I may strip down the shell and have him sand blast it the whole suspension needs rebuild anyways.

I look forward to getting her on the road and handling better than my Subaru

Hey Robbie,
Welcome and that looks to be the start to a good project.
Media blasting the entire shell is the way to go and then you'll have a clear picture of the condition of the metal.
As far as websites go pro-touring is real good and performance years tech forum is even more focused on Pontiacs. Plenty of good info can be found there. Also, the 1st Gen Firebird site offers a wealth of knowledge & information.
Good luck with your project.

pchdrive- I'll check out the performance years forum. Thanks!

Younge gun- I'm really wanting to get the body straight, do a 4link or a truck arm rear suspension, new front suspension, get it low slung with 4 wheel disc brakes

I saw a guy maybe on here or lateral G that used a 69 camaro front valance and the OE firebird peice for his 68 so you have the center mounted driving lights. I really liked that.

Maybe a 69 camaro chin and trunk spoiler. Get a nice match of a retro and classic interior.

My ultimate goal is a nice handling ,fast, neck snapper. That I can drive anywhere.

Motor wise Im not really sure maybe an ls motor and 6 speed, or a 400 poncho and a 4 speed the car is a 4speed car to begin with.

Hey thanks for the warm welcome. i plan on getting balls deep really quick. I have 2 cars I have to finish in the next 2 weeks that are very large builds on STi's then I should be fairly free to tear into it.

Thanks all. I got a free minute today to go pull out all of the glass, 1/4 panel( new ) and trim peices ect and bring them into the shop.

threw out all of the trash and found that the rear floor boards are rusted through and the front are bad aswell. So i guess its time to make a real build thread. thanks for the support guys.
