Hi everyone, I just recently joined although I've been at lateral-g.net for a little while. I thought I'd introduce myself and my project. I found this car sitting under a shed in south Alabama, where it had been for the last 17 years. The owner let it go cheap (by fastback standards) and nothing was missing from the car at all, besides the original wheels. He did a nasty repaint in the late 70's. You'll see why I refer to the car as "Bandit" for now.

Overall it is in great shape, with the worst spot being under the battery. My sheetmetal list is very small. Currently I am unable to work on the car, I have been sent to south Florida for the next 9 months by my company. Believe me, as soon as I get back I'm going to tear into it. I have to replace the RF framerail first so that it can go on a rotisserie. Then blasting, primer, and fab!! I am building in my fathers basement shop and will be doing all of the work except for blasting and base/clear. Here are some progress pics, with the last being as it sits now, waiting for me to get back.

For those of you do-it-yourselfers like me, get some spot-weld cutter bits...they are worth their weight in gold! I am an asst. project manager for an industrial fabricator so maybe I'll pick up some welding skills while I'm on this project. Here are some plans I have so far:

Suspension:
RRS front coilover set-up
Randalls rack n pinon
Strange crate 9" w/ leafs and slide-a-links
4wheel-discs, Baer or late-model Cobra setup
some sort of vintage wheels, I'm not into dubs and bling.

Drivetrain:
408winsdor stroker
Keisler Eng. TKO-600 auto-to-manual conversion kit

Body:
Painless harness
shaved markers
Shelby decklid
GT emblems and dress (no Shelby clone here)
Still undecided on paint

Interior:
No frills black standard int.
Procar Elite seats - covered to match OEM
Shelby fiberglass rear shelf w/ spare mount
autometer gauges
power everything, blah blah

Anybody want a complete 200ci inline six!!!

Hey that looks like my son's Mustang. He has a 68 Coupe. Good luck on your project and it sounds like you are going to have a sweet ride when you are done.

Welcome to the site. She's in need of some TLC, that's for sure.

Let me recommend the AAW wiring instead of Painful.

Keep us updated on the progress.

I have similar plans for my 67' and something tells me you'll finish yours before I even start on mine....
