Hello everyone. I'm new to this site.

I know this question has been asked many times before. Before you yell at me, I tried to use the search engine with no good tips.

I called Lingenfelter about a blower cam and they recommended the Gt-7. I have used this cam before with nitrous before and it worked pretty good. I dont have the car any longer so I need a new cam. The LS1 engine has stock internals with ARP rod bolts. (big deal) Headers with true duels, 6 spd. 4.11 gears and a V-9 SC with cooler. I would like to have a cam with a good lope but work with a SC also.

I also called Comp Cams to see what they recommended. Three calls, three different guys, three different cams. So now I'm really confused.

Please help...

I tend to be on the conservative side depending on who you talk to, but there are a couple I prefer with my builds. The main one I use is a 224/230 on a 116 LSA and there are a couple different lobe families to use depending on how the heads are setup. You can drop the LSA to a 114 for more lope and the LS engines are very forgiving when it comes to cam choice. in other words, you would really have to screw up a cam to make it not performa. Tuning is the big key.

Hope this helps.

What type of supercharger are you considering?

FWIW, I have a Comp XER grind with 224/230 and a 114lsa. Seems to work well with my Magnuson blower, and sounds pretty good. Really doesn't have as much lope as you would think for a cam that size. You have to go really big with the cam on these motors to make them idle like a carb'd small block.

I am happy with my cam choice, though. Perfect balance of sound, power and driveability. I know Carl C got the GT2-3 cam for his motor, and that is supposed to be a very good blower cam as well. That would be a great choice if you wanted a smooth idling sleeper.

How does the GT2-3 compare to the GT-7? I had the GT-7 once before and it was very quiet. It made 510 RWHP and 612 TRQ with a stock LS1 with long tubes, true duels with a 150 shot ,6 spd, 12 bolt.

I'm not sure about the GT-7, but the GT2-3 is just a little more aggressive version of the LS6 cam. I had the LS6 cam in my motor before I went with that XER grind and it was a very quiet, smooth idling cam. Just too mellow sounding for my taste.

Also check over at LS1TECH.com in their Forced Induction forum. Lots of activity there, and knowledge.
