hi all I am quite new here and have a few questions to people with g bodies

i have an 84 buick gn that i am going to fully take apart and start it all over.

my plan is to ditch the factory computer and intake setup and replace it with a carb intake and the new projection fi system to get rid of the old
rare and pain in the butt factory stuff also will be doing a twin turbo setup and a 6 speed.

but my first order of business is braking and handling on the car and just like there are thousands of these cars out there, there are just as many ways to get the same results (or just about the same)

i want to get rid of power brakes and just run it manual, same with the steering. as far as the susp. i will be installing aftermarket gnx flares so i can run wider wheels (would love to do a 18 20 combo)

i know that the factory front geom. sucks and there are ways to fix it
what i have seen was your basic upper and lower c arms to fix about 80% of the problem to a few grand worth of billet parts offered to do the same thing.

what is the average part being ran on these cars im not a millionare and im not willing to mortgage the house either.
i would also love to be able to run corvette 13 in brakes or maybe even the 14 on the zo6 with off the shelf brake parts that i can get at any store. i was told that a set of 2inch drop spindles are the way to go and have also heard of the total opposite

if any of you can give me some direction i would greatly thank you for it

and my compliments on a well setup and ran message board
thank you

slawek

well TonySS is somewhere around here (and on http://gbodyforum.com/index.php ) and can tell you where he got his stock spindles modified for C5 brakes. plus there's the f-body spindle swap, the s-10 ZQ8 swap, or the AFX spindles. 18in rims are doable with the right backspacing but IMO 20 is pushing it. plus the steering and braking effort will be pretty high. but the s-10 is supposed to have a manual steering setup that is pretty much bolt in. it's not something that i know about myself, but the common opinion here is that drop spindles cause/have a lot of problems. read the stick over in suspension.
marcus at SC&C is VERY knowlegeable and HIGHLY respected here. i'd give him a call. (something i really need to do myself)

better late than never: welcome to the board. it sounds like you're gonna have a really fun time with that car. post some pics when you can.

Welcome to the board... your answer to ultimate G-body handling is here: www.scandc.com

Give Mark there a call, he's a great guy... their stuff works, and it's priced well for what you get.
