I'm thinking about buying the SLP 402 short block. I've got a few questions though. First, which would be better the LQ9 or LS2 version? I plan on doing the L92/L76 head and intake on it, is this good for 500 rwhp or should I go with AFR and FAST intake and heads? Lastly, What computer would you use? I was guessing FAST XFI for LS2 on either set up. Probably wrong though.:attn:I was thinking the FAST XFI because of all the mods and I want to be able to tune computer myself not have to send it out everytime!! One last thing, I might go forced induction later down the road so which block would be better?

Thanks,
Zach

500 horse with the right cam easily. iron blocks are stronger but i havent heard of a properly setup fi aluminum ls2 pop. Are you going to use drive by wire or a cable? either pcm is fine, and then just get HPtuners or EFILive and you'll be able to tune it all day if you want to. What car is this going into? If its not originally an lsx car I suggest that you visit the hybrids section of ls1tech.

It's going into a '69 Nova. I was thinking cable for throttle. If I get the FAST XFI setup it comes with everything I need. Right?

uhhhmmm?:hmm:Yeah, about that. Probably better if I don't. Let's just say its currently a Nova but only I can tell. I am kind of in the blueprint stage right now, Just building it up on a paper while I save up to buy parts. As soon as I get any progress on it you will definitely be able to see it.

Where are you located Zach? I may be able to help you out if you are close to me.

I would stick with the aluminum version 402 as I am not a big fan of weight. A 402 with an L92/L76 top end and a small cam will make 500HP at the crank for sure with the cold air system, right headers, exhaust and tuning. I have been dealing the the LS engines since they came out in 1997.

I have used several of the XFI systems and they work very well and can be self tought to do the basics pretty easily. The option for a 500HP LS2 and suing the factory style computer and even a fly by wire setup is very feasible and you can use HP Tuners to do the tuning.

I offer mail order programs for both systems to get the car running and can either tune the car, offer support to help you tune the car or get you to someone in your area who can help you properly.

Hope this helps and best to you.
