I am going to have the 1968 Firebird Mini tubed in May. I want to start looking for new rims for the rear end. I have done a bunch of reading on this and other sites. I came up with 17 X 11 rims with 5.5 " BS should fit with the new mini tub kit and still have some room. I will be using the DSE mini tub kit with 3" drop leaf springs. I am going to have the rear end narrowed to match the rim BS and was told 5.5 on a 11 inch rim is ideal. I am thinking a 315 35 17 tire. Please let me know if this looks like a good set up. I don't want to push the edge too much. I want a nice fat tire but yet be sure to have no chance of rubbing any where any time. Thanks Steve

315's are perfect. Some run 335's on a 17x11 but theres no need for it. Plus 315's are a lot cheaper in the long run.

I've just purchased 17x11 5.75 back spacing with 317x17/35tyres for a 77 Camaro. The original wheels were 17 x 10 6.0 backspacing with an 1/8" spacer. No rubbing yet.!!!!! Maybe i should wait till I get the tyres mounted!!!!

That looks good Procharmo. I got my rims and tires ordered today . I can't wait to get her on the road with the big meats in back. I went with 17 X 11 rims with 5.5 BS and 315 / 35 17 tires.
