Who has Doug's headers part #D368 on their 3rd gen Nova or first Gen Camaro? I need someone to measure the distance between the number 2 and number 6 exhaust tube where they cross. A pic would be very helpful. A measurement from the #6 exhaust tube to the idler arm would help too.
Mine are hitting the idler arm at the number 6 tube. There is about a 3/8 inch gap between the #2 and #6 tub. It looks like the #6 tube could easily be bent in 1/4 inch and that would solve the problem. I've checked everthing and it is either a defective header or the frame is drilled wrong for the idler arm.
Other than this issue, they beautifully. I can easily get to all my plugs with angle plug heads. I can easily get to the starter wires from the top and they clear the PS box.

Fuel line is to close as well. You don't have a small block on big block frame stands do you?

I can bend the fuel line a little. May put a heat sheild on it as well. I have the small block frame stands. The left header is very close to the steering box, so moving the engine left would cause problems with the upper left control arm and the PS box.

You have to fix the fuel line issue. That is way to close man. You can always cut it where is has clearance and run AN fittings with crushable sleeves that go right on hard line. That idler arm deal is a real issue. Raised exhaust ports?

The fuel line will be fixed. That is pretty easy. The ZZ4 has raised ports, but Doug's catalog specifically state they will fit a ZZ4 in a 3rd gen Nova

Yes, I've called them twice. Last time was this evening. They told me I could send it to them and they would check it in their jig. I asked for a couple of measurmements that I could check to see if mine were correct before I sent the right side back. They couldn't give me any. Now I have a decision.
It will probably be easier to relocate the idler arm 1/2 inch down and 1/2 inch forward. I need to mock that up this weekend The way things are now, I have excellent clearance to all the plugs and starter. It even clears the PS box.

I think my '67 1st gen car has like three idler arms, (and the the '67 and '68/'69 are different by a schosh?).
All are like short, medium and long lengthed to match the three different length pitman arms if not mistaken??
So please check out real close what you have??
It may be a long pitman w/ a shorter idler on a '67 or '68 or one of the others?? Or visa-versa??

They only list one idler arm for all gen 3 Novas. I ended up moving the idler arm down 1/2 inch and forward 1/2 inch. I will also put a heat sheild around the rubber boot to protect the joint. I was able to access the back side through the original holes. I also have the fuel line on top of the frame now, but will still probably shield it as well.
