Has anyone fabricated there own tubs for their projects. I am trying to figure the best way to put something together for a clean look.

I have been told to do a mini-tub but what I need is more clearance vertically so that my tires do not ground out on the tubs when my air bags are deflated. A mini tub on a mustang leaves the radius on the inner wheel well and the tires hit there.

Anyone made their own or used a kit?

I didn't do it, but a friend of mine makes his own tubs for the cars he builds. He cuts the vertical half moon (inside) part to the size that he wants and then bead rolls the arch with a large radias bead. He then bead rolls the flat piece that will form the tub and then tig welds the two pieces together. Don't know if that is a very clear discription....

I don't have any build pics of them, but here's a completed one.

Oh, and he even has done this type of assembly for a fuel cell in his El Camino.

I think it's a clean look and would give you plenty of clearance when dropped all the way down.

thanks for the info. They look really clean to me and a nice fish on the welds.

I am doing my own tub kit now. A good tub kit to look at is at Chris Alson's Chassisworks. I purchased a trans tunnel/driveshaft kit and that thing was awesome. They have the tubs in steel for $90.00... www.cachassisworks.com
