Lokar cables...anyone know the difference in the different universal kits? I was told to order the tbird kit and the Corvette clevis kit but there are no pictures of the Tbird kit that I can find. I am going to use LS1 rear brakes flipped side to side so I can pull straight forward.

I used Lokar Universal cable kit EC-80FU with the connector cable EC-8001U. It works pretty good. I did get the Corvette clevis kit, but it doesn't work on the LS1 brakes. The clevis isn't deep enough, it just fits on the LS1 lever, but there is no room for the cable end in the clevis. I had to weld a short bracket to the clevis to attach the cable. The clevis really needs to be at least 3/8" longer to work, 1/2" would be better yet. EDIT: the LS1 e-brake levers hit the control arm mount when mounted with the lever pulling forward (at least on 64-67 rear axles). I mounted mine with the levers pulling back. I drilled the back of the control arm/shock mount (watch out for the shocks, not alot of clearance) and ran the cable through the hole. Works pretty good and the cables are long enough to do this.

Randy,

Thanks a ton for the detailed answer. Thats good to know about the clevis kits. I should be OK to pull because I have the wider rear since its an Olds.

They clear fine on the 68-72 chevelle rear pulling forward also.

Yep, Brad, I should have made that clearer that the 68-72 axles work both ways. Been working on the 67 too long now :seizure:

Thought I would follow up. I bought the same kit but used the Explorer clevis kit. It works prefect. I made a bracket that bolts to the control arm mounts. The LH side brake lever did hit the control arm bracket slightly. A quick notch with the plasma cutter fixed that.

With the Lokar ebrake stuff, i use the Ford clevis, they fit the LS1 rear brakes. I just used them on a customers car.

I managed to get the rear ls1 setup working on my '67- just cut the stock f-body cables down to size..... here's the thread:
