Deciding on paint color. Not sure if I want to use the traditional plain black or more of a new car metallic black.
Does anyone have pics of their cars in a metallic black or should I stick to the traditional plain black?

The problem I've seen with some metallic blacks is the metallic seems to take away from the depth IMO.
I think Lexus and VW have metallic blacks. Look at some of the new cars for ideas.

My 05' Magnum is a metallic. My 97' M3 was metallic. The 68' is BLACK, toyota black to be exact. I didn't even think for a second about doing a metallic on it...
I agree with the takes away depth statement

i agree with the takes away depth statement as well. but my favorite metallic black has to be the "cosmos black" on the late 90's bmw m3's, probably the same color as your 97.

The Monte Carlo we have is magic black on top. It's pretty deep. We call it magic black, it is a Audi color that has some gold metalic in it, not purple or teal like a lot of the other black metailics.

to really make it harder...lol...I'm a custom painter and I wish I had a good pic to send you. A really nice effect for that would be a pearl in clear over the black. The thing about pearl is that it only reflects in your hot spots where the sun is reflecting in the paint where as with the metallic you see it everywhere. plus it gives you a really cool kinda ghost cast..exp. if you went blue pearl over the black it would look blue right where the sun is reflecting but black everywhere else. just something to think about. will add alot more depth to it

+1 on the Cosmos black being an awesome color. Just had a 95 or 96 M3 in the shop in that color that had just had the paint cut and polished, etc. Looked sweet.
My new favorite color comes on the brand new E90-E92 M3. It's called "Jerez black metallic". It almost looks like a midnight blue under shop lights, just a stunning color on that car. Makes me want to find a way to get a new M3 sedan. Can anyone say 8300 rpm V8?
I found some pics, but I think it's something you need to see in person to appreciate the color.
