I'm thinking of leaving out the OE crossmember and putting in something else. I'm just not to sure what would be the best idea. Here in the pic you can see the x-member in my 70.....

I'm considering2 pieces of 1.5" DOM tube bent to match the existing shape.... then plate the area were the rear mounts would go.....
