I've gotten two bids thus far for shipping a 69 Camaro roller, from PA to IL, about 761 miles. 1st was $788 enclosed and the 2nd was $704 open trailer.

Now I did a coast to coast deal once in an open trailer for that much so am I to understand enclosed is going to cost me or should I hold out for a bit lower?

If you can get ANYONE to do it for $1 or less per loaded you are getting a steal!

What he means is if you can get anyone to haul it for less that $1 per loaded mile. Being an ex-truck driver I'd have to agree. Loaded miles would be the miles they go from the pick-up point to the point they deliver the car.

If you figure in the cost of fuel (diesel fuel is more expensive than gas), cost of equipment (truck/trailer), insurance...etc $1.00 mile is rather cheap now-a-days.

Just as a data point, I had my Camaro shipped from San Jose, CA to Frederick, MD for $1550 - ~2800 miles enclosed.

Another data benchmark. Last Fall I paid $900 for an open trailer from WA to PA. I had another quote for $1,500 open trailer.

Seems fair. I am getting a transmission shipped from CA to MI and it is $270.

Well, to update I've had qoutes from $475 to $504 and $575 with open trailers but running into availability issues around the time frame needed. Getting there though.
