So ive just finished the install of my 95 trans am LT1 into my 69 camaro. I should be elated! but im not so much, mostly because i now have everything wired up nad the car should start, but it wont.
I have power to the fans and the fuel pump, but when the ignition is turned on im getting nothing from the starter. I know the starter is getting power because the battery is hooked directly to it and im getting power through a relay there to everything else in the car.
I havnt really had a chance to go indepth and check it out yet as im stuck in school til tonight, but id love if you guys could give me ur comments or ideas on what the problem may be...
thanks guys

How old is the starter? Even though it's got power, it may have a dead spot and not want to spin...

Let's see if I can be of some help. I'm not too in the know when it comes to LT1s, but there a few basic things to check.
First, make sure the battery is good and fully charged. Second, make sure your grounds are all good for the battery and the engine to chassis ground.
Then use a Multimeter or test light (multimeter would be better) to check for power at the starter solenoid activation post on the solenoid when trying to crank the motor. If you have no power, then it's a wiring problem (ie. nuetral safety not wired up right, etc.). Also make sure you have the start signal wire going to the proper post on the starter.
If you are getting solid B+ voltage at the solenoid wire/post when cranking then the starter bad.
Let me know what you find.

Where is the battery? Stock location or trunk? If in the trunk where is the ground connected?
As you all know Camaro's are uni-body cars, and as such normally require a ground strap from the subframe to the engine, and from the subframe to the body.
I've had one with the battery in the trunk that would not start. It would crank but it seemed like the battery was very low. It had a strap from chassis to engine, and once I added a strap from chassis to body it completed the circuit and everything worked as it should.

ok, turns out the starter was fine, a shim kit and some rewiring fixed my problems.
MY NEW PROBLEM ...
Using the diagrams for C100, C105, and the C200s, i was able to pic out the correct wires that i needed for power. i got all those together and put them to a power line (connected to the purple starter wire). the motor then started (yeah!) when the ignition was turned on but always died as the key clicked back into the standard on position.
This made me realize that i need to find a power wire to splice these wires into that gives power both when the key is turned to the on (ready) and when is is cranked all the way foreward for the starter. But i cant use an attatchment to the battery because that would leave the wires (for ECU nad fuel injectors) powered up permenately.... or can I????

someone will chime in with a diagram and what parts you need.
My brother wired the megasquirt in my charger using a diode in the starter feed circuit so that the ignition was fed as normal and when cranking the starter it also got ignition and spark , when the starter released the diode stops the current from keeping the starter energized
hope that makes sense
