We went to the Home and Garden show awhile back, found some neat stuff for a deck call "Millennium Decking", fairly new product around here so I contacted several contractors to get quotes. Only one showed up, still waiting 4 weeks just for that quote. Normally we are DIY'ers but we've found out this material isn't available here retail. The regional supplier refuses to sell to anyone but account contractors. I talked with them again and they said they'd give me more names of contractors they sell to, two I've already talked to with no response. I got a hold of another one but have a feeling he won't show, to far away for a simple deck project.

It also takes a bit of time to give the same info over and over to the contractors, plus directions, plus kissing up, waiting for no shows, and now the supplier wants me to keep calling different ones until I finally get one out. JEZZ, I'll build it myself, even pay retail for the stuff, but they won't sell to homeowners, just licensed contractors.

That's BS. If you want your stuff used, make it available. https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

My wife and I just got done building a house in Mountain View, CA. I cannot tell you how many architects and contractors either didn't show up for interview appointments, showed up late, or showed up without a portfolio. I even had one architect tell me, "Well it would be difficult for you to understand my capabilities by looking at my portfolio."

It's my understanding that there are a number of different brands of synth deck material. Trex is one of them. I would see if you can find an alternative. Then let the supplier know how much money you spent with someone else.

We were looking at the Trex style but found this other stuff that interlocks, giving a full floor without the gaps between boards.
Maybe there're another one like it. Just take google time.

But I left messages with the regional rep and mfg. Maybe I can get a response that way.

"Well it would be difficult for you to understand my capabilities by looking at my portfolio."

That's priceless.

They probably have some sort of pricing contract with the manufacturer. You might try contacting them directly to find out where you can buy it.

If its gaps your worried about have a "concrete" type deck installed. I forgot what its called but it turns out really really nice. Also if under the deck is like a hang out area and you have the concrete thing done you can finish the bottom off with like 6" tounge and groove for a very nice result..
