What started as a nice day of running errands in my '69 turned into a ride home on my trailer.

It looks like I fried the 3/4 clutch pack in my auto tranny. Pulling on to the highway, the car just revved as it shifted from 2nd to 3rd. Pulled over to the side of the road - 1-2 fine, but on repeated attempts it just revved on the 2-3 shift. doh. Fluid level is good. Wife had to come get me (luckily, I didn't make it far from home) so I could load up the trailer and retrieve the car.

I already have a clutch, bellhousing and T56 sitting here in the garage. Instead of fixing the 4L60E, I want to make the swap to a T56.

Does anyone have any links to places where I can buy the other parts necessary for the conversion? Looks like I'll need pedals and hydraulics, plus resources on setting up the wiring for the VSS, reverse lights and reverse lockout.

Will a standard T56 shifter work?

Will my auto console work with some mods?

Any advice, links or pics from those that have been there or have any info would be great.

Try Tyler over at ATS. He should have the hydraulics and most likely everything else you need.

Which T56 is it? There area a couple different ones and the shifters are in slighly different locations.

Thanks, Steve.

The T56 is out of an LT1 F-body.

I can't remember how that shifter location is. Tyler will know though.

You should really like the T-56.. makes the drive much more fun :)
