...I'm having difficulty figuring something out...

I cut my rear frame rails about half way through at the ends. I've seen pictures of installs showing them cut almost 90% of the way through, and then some that are cut about 10% of the way through...

Is there a "right" way?

Mine are already in, so I have my fingers crossed that I cut to the right depth!!

Some of the pictures might have had adjustment cuts for a bigger tire.

Sadly, there is a limited number of good photos of the process. People seem to be too busy doing it to stop and take photos.

Just cut where the new tubs line up at?

Just follow the directions and cut. Don't worry about what the other guy did. Ours turned out great.

1/2" to 5/8" at its narrowest point seems to be the norm for most folks. Once you have the old inner wheelwell removed just keep slowly trimming the trunk floor and the frame rail. Insert the new tub after every trim trying the fit.

Just be patient and make small cuts and trim a little each time. Do fit the new tub after each trim. Its easy to keep removing but gets a little more difficult to add back.

Pfft that is what the "metal stretcher" is for! :pat:

if you get the install cd, then you can print out templates that you can apply to your frame rails. i did this on mine. they are very thin at one point !!

Exactly what jpdeuce said.I test fit mine multiple times before i was happy with the fit.

Yeah, I think the setback might vary a little from car to car depending on the exact distance of the frame rail to the outer lip of the quarter.

That does look scary. Check out this link from Steve N's site, where some reinforcements were made on the inboard side and underneath to reinforce the frame rails. I'm thinking of doing this as well when I get that far in my mini-tub:

A bit more welding and fabrication but to me seems worth it for peace of mind, especially if the car will ever see the track.

As I said before some guys will move that section in to provivde more tire room. 3/4" should be plenty for 335's.

If it where running a leaf suspension I would recommend bracing on the inner part of the frame.
