I'm looking into buying an engine out of a 05-06 gto for my 70 LeMans and I found this auction site for salvage cars , some of the prices look good , has anyone tried them or done this , I can buy (maybe ) a complete car and strip it for less than an e-bay ls2 w/ trans
Thanks for any input
this is the link http://www.ridesafely.com/?SiteType=S&description=SALVAGE%20AUCTION%20CARS%20AND%20MOTOC YCLES%20FOR%20SALE
I haven't had any experience with that site but have had some luck with these two.

ebay LS2 pull-outs are rip offs. Most of the LS related engine builders can build you a brand new forged internal LS engine for the price that most people are paying on ebay.
You really only need the shortblock, then get some good cylinder heads, intake of your choice, accesories of your choice, harness of your choice, etc... most of that OEM stuff gets tossed anyways.

I've got a friend that found an '04 GTO and is transplanting EVERYTHING into a '66 GTO. I mean EVERYTHING! You ever seen an old goat with irs? btw he paid $4000 for the entire car and it just had some front suspension damage.

Thats what I'm talking about . I wasn't sure it really happens but I'd like that kind of deal !! I could use the engine , trans and seats . the price looks good but I don't know if they really go for the last price ?? The site I've been checking says they let you know the day after if you've won . :hmm:

That would work for the older non-smog vehicles but for those vehicles requiring a smog a whole car for a decent price would be the best way to go in my opinion. Dealing with Californias emissions testing is a PITA.

I bought a 98 z28 for 1800. I ended up fixing it because it had a good title, so now I'm looking for another....

I have a friend who bought a 06 GTO for $4000.00 hes transplanting into a 67 GTO rag top. He got it from Co Part and they seem to be a good place to deal with. The way I see it this is the way to go as you have everything you need right there no running for this or that. Hes also going to use the interior in it to. Another place is IAA Insurance Auto Auction.

The only experience I've had trying to do this is on E-Bay and I almost got scammed! Be careful when you do something like this!
