alternatives to hood pins

I never cared for the look of hood pins for various reasons.
ok, some cars look alright with them but I think most of us would agree
those same rides would look better/cleaner without.
Ford had some hood "buttons" that were better but not great.
Surely we can come up with a more elegant solution for what seems like a hack from the 60's.
So what other options are available that would not be visible from the top?
